Mt. Emily Safe Center (MESC), incorporated in 1999, is the only operating Child Abuse Intervention Center in Eastern Oregon that provides medical and forensic exams, insurance billing, community education on child abuse, and clinical services to victims of child abuse and their non-offending family members. We are open five days a week and on call evenings and weekends. The Safe Center provides quality comprehensive services to all children in Eastern Oregon ages 0-17 who may have been victims of severe physical abuse, sexual abuse, or witness abuse. Mt. Emily Safe Center is a critical part of Northeast Oregon’s safety net for children. We advocate for kids and share our professional knowledge with other service providers in the region. Mt Emily Safe Center serves nine counties (Baker, Gilliam, Grant, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, and Wheeler) and five with assessment services (Baker, Grant, Morrow, Union, and Wallowa). We serve 145 children every year.
Locally, the Mt. Emily Safe Center is an active, participating member of the Union County Child Abuse Multidisciplinary Team, (MDT) the Early Childhood Planning Team (ECPT), and the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART). Statewide we are members of the Oregon Network of Child Abuse Intervention Centers (ONCAIC), and the Crime Victims Assistance Network (CVAN). Regionally we are affiliated with the Western Regional Children’s Advocacy Center (WRCAC). Nationally we are an accredited member of the National Children’s Alliance (NCA), and a member of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC).
