There are two good locations where you can park your car and start to explore the Mt. Emily trail system.
From Spruce Street:
Go out N. Spruce Street to Blackhawk Trail Lane, the first road to the left after crossing the Grande Ronde River bridge.
Turn left on Blackhawk Trail and continue to Owsley Canyon Road, the first road to the right (about a half mile.)
Drive a couple miles up Owsley Canyon, through some S curves to the "T" where Mt. Emily Road takes off to the left.
Turn right at the "T", and just around a left turn in the road, you will see parking areas on both sides.
After parking, you can find the trail system by following either of the two gated forest roads on the north side Owsley Canyon Road.
From Second Street:
Go out N. Second Street over the Grande Ronde River bridge to Blackhawk Trail Lane, the first road to the right past the Union County fairgrounds.
Turn right on Blackhawk Trail and continue to Owsley Canyon Road, the first road to the left (about a half mile.)
From Spruce Street:
Go out N. Spruce Street over the Grande Ronde River bridge, where Spruce becomes Mt. Glen Road.
Continue out Mt. Glen, keeping to the left where Booth Lane turns off to the east, and continuing past a Pioneer graveyard off to the right.
After dropping down a hill, watch for Igo Lane, the only public road to the left. An old one-room schoolhouse on the right is a landmark for the intersection.
Turn left on Igo Lane and follow it up a mile or so to where Lester Road joins on the right.
On the left is a parking area at the entrance to an unnamed road. This is the lower Igo Lane trail head.
To get to the upper trail head, continue up Igo Lane another half mile or so to a wide spot in the road where a gated road joins from the right.
